The Kingdom is a series of twenty-nine poems. Find all the poems here.
The Half-Elf, the King, the Dwarven King, and the Dark Prince,
To agree on a plan between the four, the Half-Elf must convince.
She began her plea with something quite strange,
She began to say that there was nothing they could change.
The Black Monster was real, and it was certainly coming,
As if it was always approaching to the sound of dark drumming.
There was no way to know when it would really arrive,
But once it did, she was sure that no one would survive.
What the four must do is be ready for the day,
The day when every kingdom begins to fray.
“But what of other kingdoms?” the Dwarf frantically cried,
“It is impossible to get there,” the Half-Elf replied.
“These kingdoms are like ours,” the Half-Elf went on,
“But they are unreachable, no matter the brawn.”
The Half-Elf explained that they had two choices,
Live in fear or continue to value their own voices.
There are many ways you can value your life,
And with love there is one way to win this strife?
“So we can survive?” Was the King’s quick ask,
“No,” said the Half-Elf, “A new kingdom is the task.”
This was confusing for everyone to hear,
The answer she gave wasn’t very clear.
A new kingdom can be made but only through love,
Two kingdoms become one says the powers above.
This is the magic of life that I tell you now,
This is the origin of our kingdom, this is our how.
So the four kept discussing this mystery for months on end,
And through this love, the fear of the Black Monster would mend.
