Embracing Darkness

I denied you, and I feared you

I fought valiantly against you

But when I actually changed

When I put away the sword

When I combatted combat

And called for peace to that too

As war makes corpses of us all

You looked up with your evil grin

And through your tears you said

“Thank you for understanding”

And darkness did not amplify

Instead, I finally understood the light

My darkness was not to be feared

But my lack of love altogether

Even that, I now understand
